Great Ways To Use Aluminum Foil
Aluminum foil is one of the most versatile products in the kitchen. Below are some typical and unique ways to use it:
Quick Cooking Packets
Place your favorite veggies in the center of a large sheet of foil. Fold over two sides like your wrapping a present, but be sure to leave a little room for steam. Then double fold the ends to create a perfect packet. Bake or grill your packets to desired doneness. Carefully open to avoid steam and pour the veggies right on your plate.
Warm Breads
Wrap rolls, muffins, or any bread in a napkin and put a layer of foil underneath. Aluminum reflects heat and will help keep them nice and warm.
Perfect Pie Crusts
Just like Grandma used to do it. When baking a pie, cover the edges of the crust with aluminum foil for perfect pie crust every time.
Clean Pots and Pans
If you have an especially dirty pot or pan and don't have time to soak it, make a ball of aluminum foil and use it like a scrub pad. It works well and saves time.
Sharp Scissors
Cutting through 5-10 layers of aluminum foil sharpens the blades of most scissors. Not a lot, but enough to tide you over. Who knew? You do now!
Shoo, Birds
Hang twisted strips of foil in fruit trees using fishing line, or along wood rooftops for woodpeckers. The light and sound keeps birds away.
Ice Cream Catcher
Wrap the bottom of an ice-cream cone with a piece of aluminum foil. No sticky mess!
Soft Brown Sugar
Wrap a block of hardened brown sugar in aluminum foil and bake at 300° for five minutes. It’s soft again!
